Boyfriend keeps on bragging about this amazing restaurant near his work where you can pay what you think you should pay, and not a set price. Isn’t that a neat idea?
Since it’s very far from where I work, when I took a day off to play early morning tour guide for some Japanese friends, I made my way over there for a lunch date with the boyfriend.
The place’s name is Kish, and serves Persian food (though sadly there was no hummus the day we went.)
The drinks were really great – I love the nice selection of soft drinks. They were really pretty with the petals in the glasses – very classy for a Wednesday lunchtime!
There was enough to eat for vegetarians, and I was fine being gluten free there too.
At the end we were charged for our drinks but put money into a little box so it’s not obvious to everyone what we paid.
These “pay what you like” places seems to be the rage in Germany right now. I have my sights set on one in Berlin for when we go next month as well. I think they’re really cool but wonder how they’d be in Britain…would people be fair with their money, I wonder? I think German people would be much more generous with their money and British people more tight fisted…Hmm…
Please note that the “pay what you like” is only at lunchtimes on weekdays.
Find Kish at Leipziger Straße 16A, 60487 Frankfurt.
