Last year, I went to the mardi gras carnival in Frankfurt and it was ok… but not the best. This year, a group of friends and I went to Mainz because it’s bigger and better there. Here are some of the photos I took – Enjoy! Click on a photo to open up the gallery.
This is really interesting. It just so happens that I went to a meeting for our international club at work. They presented on Carneval around the world. Two Germans talked about it, and I had never known about the tradition there. I’m happy you blogged about this tradition that is fun and not so well known outside Germany.

Next year hopefully Ill make it to Mainz or Köln, I never knew either about the german karnival tradition before I moved here
I didn’t want to go to Cologne because I hate places with too many people so I assumed it would be like that. But apparently it’s not that bad so I may try next year. Mainz was really good, though!
