Korean Festivities in London

Now how’s THAT for old school! This is a photo of me from about 5 years ago when I visited Korea for the first time. That was very easily the best Korean BBQ I have ever had in my life.

I love Korea. You will often hear me ranting about how Japan’s had its day and Korea is the way forward. And because of this, I’m always up for Korean-based events – in Frankfurt there is “Japan week” which is actually 2 weeks. There’s a thing about Korea in one of the museums right now, which I would have blogged about had it been any good. Korean culture gets overlooked all the time and it’s NOT COOL that that happens.

BUT in London right now there is a whole bunch of Korean based goodness going on. If you are in the area, I urge you to go and check it out – I would if I could!! Link HERE

  1. You keep posting subjects that I find interesting! I am still working on learning the Korean language after spending the past few month watching Korean Dramas. Unfortunately, unlike Japanese, there aren’t many books or programs for learning Korean. I am thinking that there aren’t many vegetarians in Korea. Am I right?

    • Korean and Japanese are very similar in grammar and vocabulary so once you know one, the other isn’t difficult at all.

As for vegetarians… I’m not sure because I’ve only visited there. A lot of their food is based around meat, like the BBQ here, but unlike the Japanese they are much more open to Western concepts and so it should be ok. For example, if you go to Japan and say you want vegetarian ramen, they still might put fish (in the stock) or even chicken in it. They’ll think that meat means “hard meat” like beef or pork. Koreans are a lot more westernised and so this kind of thing shouldn’t be a problem.
