When I was back home I bought the Barry M (who I often call “Boney M”…) yellow nail varnish but then received another yellow varnish from Alessandro in my June GlossyBox!
I’m afraid I’ve not got a picture of the Barry M one in action, but as soon as I used it, I really loved it. It’s pretty thick so you only need two coats and then the colour is pretty solid. The quality is pretty good and it lasts for a good 4-5 days before starting to chip – but the only thing I would say against it is that it takes ages to dry. I hate waiting for it to dry as I can’t sit still long enough…
The Alessandro one was a lot more smooth to put on but is a lot thinner. It took me about 3 or 4 coats to get the colour shown above. Each coat didn’t take as long to dry but overall I spent a lot more time on my nails. It doesn’t show up in the picture but there was a slight greeny tinge to the colour which I really didn’t like. I’d happily wear the Barry M varnish on its own because it looks cute and summery but this one I felt the need to cover it a bit with pink as it wasn’t such a nice colour.
I think if you’re using yellow as a light base on which to do designs or gradient nails like I did, the Alessandro varnish is really good. It’s quick drying and very smooth. But if you just want happy summer nails, the Barry M one is probably your best bet – the colour is much nicer and brighter.
Have you tried either of these? If so, let me know!
